Teething

I have always said that my kids were great when it came to teething. I never really knew they were getting teeth until they all of a sudden were there. Well, with Coen it is different. He is getting 4 teeth at once. He is getting his two front teeth and the two teeth beside those. He has been pretty good up until the last few nights. But now he is getting up every few hours. It is killing me. I was up with him at 10, midnight, 4 am, 6 am and then I finally got back to bed and Johnny came in to wake me up at 7. I am so tired! And to top it all off John is gone for a few days to help my Aunt move. I guess I should count myself lucky that after having three kids I have only had one kid that has had a hard time with teething. I can't blame the kid. I can't imagine getting four teeth at one time. He must be in so much pain. Poor Kid!

Mr. Sneaky

Lately Johnny has been showing his sneaky side. Yesterday he went into the babies room to harass him which is not all that unusual. But when he entered the room he unplugged the baby monitor so I couldn't tell he was in there. Then today I was on the computer updating my budget and he came in and shut the door. I thought this was a little unusual but lately he also has wanted me to leave the room when he is playing so he can be alone. But after a few minutes when he came down and told me that he had to wash his hands I knew something was up. So I went upstairs and this is what I found...

He has gotten into the pantry and gotten this chocolate bar down. He had shut the door so I couldn't see what he was doing. That little sneak.

Coen's New Trick

A few weeks ago I got out my walker to see if Coen could walk with it. And sure enough he stood right up and started to walk with it. At first he was a little wobbly but after a few tries he got better. I hadn't gotten it out again for a few weeks and got it out this past weekend and took this video. As you can see he can't steer it that well but he can sure move it in a straight line. I can't believe that he is almost 11 months. Time flies by so fast!

One Last Hurrah

Last weekend we all traveled to Yellowstone for one last vacation before Paige started school. Sarah, Jared and Thor also came. It was a lot of fun. John and Sarah had never been there so it was a new experience for both of them. John liked it more then he thought he would. I am not quite sure what he was expecting but he said it was better then he thought. Paige and Johnny loved it too. When we were in the car we would play a game with the kids the game was who could spot a animal . Paige claims she saw a wolf. We were a little dubious so John asked her to describe it. She said it was gray and was laying down on the ground. We are still not sure if she really saw one but we let her believe she did and that was good enough for her. We had to keep telling Johnny that the water was too hot to touch and that he couldn't go near the hot springs. So every time we passed some steam in the air Johnny would inform us that the water was "too hot". Coen seemed to enjoy himself too. He was his usually happy go lucky self. We never had any problems with him. The only problem we had was a major diaper change on the way home. It seems as if all of our kids have had a major "blow-out" on a trip. So he had to make sure that he didn't let us down and believe me he didn't. I am glad that we could get away even if it was only for three days. GOOD TIMES!

Guess Who Turned 6 Today?

You probably guessed it. It is my baby girl Paige. I can't believe it has been six years since I started my journey as a mother. I can't believe how fast time flies by. I would like to celebrate Paige's birthday blog by letting you know 6 things that you may not know about Paige.

1- When I went into my 6 month ultrasound with Paige I had a big scare. The Dr. told me that Paige's head was too big for her gestational age and this could be because she had other health issues i.e. hydrocephalus, down syndrome or some other chromosomal disorder. She obviously ended up with none of these. She was perfect!
2- Paige loves stuffed animals. If she were given a choice of any toy on a toy isle she would pick the stuffed animal anytime.

3-She is a girly girl. She is definitely a girl through and through. She loves dress up, painting her nails and tries to even wear my make-up. I think it is safe to assume that I will not have a tom girl in my home any time in the near future.

4- Paige is a little mother. She loves to take care of Coen and loves to play with dolls. She will be a great mother someday.

5- Paige has an excellent memory. If I ever loose something I can count on Paige to help me find it. She never forgets where she puts things. She is selective in her memory at times. Like "I forgot you told me I couldn't have that candy".

6-Paige has excellent verbal skills. From a very young age Paige would speak and you could totally understand everything she said. She was pretty much talking in complete sentences before her 2nd birthday. She also loves to talk. John loves to take drives with Paige and discuss things with her. She is a great conversationalist.

Paige's Tooth

Today Paige came rushing downstairs to show me that she had lost a tooth. At first I wasn't sure if she had pulled out the tooth on purpose. I thought this because she has a cousin that has lost a few teeth and there is some envy there. Paige assured me that the tooth feel out while she was eating grapes. She is so excited about this milestone. I can't believe my baby girl is growing up. She turns 6 this week, lost her first tooth and starts first grade next week!

"Good Job Dad"

Today John took Johnny to the Gateway for some Daddy and son time. Paiges was having her birthday party so John thought it would be a good time to get Johhny out of the house. John let Johnny play in the water fountains there which Johnny loved and then he took him to Applebees for lunch. They also got to ride the "train"(AKA-TRAX) there. While they were out John had to use the men's room and Johnny waited outside. After John was done Johnny promptly said "Good Job Dad". When John told me this I had to laugh. I tell Johnny this when he sits on the potty so apparently Johnny thinks that everyone who goes to the bathroom should get praise. I always thought Johnny never paid attention to what I said after he sat on the potty, because he has to be coerced to do it every time. I guess I was wrong.

Is He Pi%$@ed?

I put this picture on my facebook account and a cousin commented on if Johnny was "pissed". I totally forgot that his finger was in that position when I posted the picture. At the time I did intentionally take the picture with his finger position in mind, because I thought it was hilarious. So now I am sharing it with all of you! Johnny uses this finger all the time to point to things. John doesn't want to draw attention to it because it is totally innocent on Johnny's part. So if you happen to get this finger thrown your way by Johnny I promise he is not ticked off at you!

Not Too Young To Learn Financial Responsibility

Today Paige played at my sisters house and I called over there to see if everything was going well and my sister told me of a conversation that she had with Paige that went like this...

Paige- "Aunt Jenny I think that I have to take this Ariel costume home with me"

Jennifer- "Why is that?"

Paige- " My dad says that we are trying to save money and can't buy costumes this year and I need a costume to wear for Halloween"

Jennifer-"I see"

We have had discussions with Paige about us trying to save money and the difference between needs and wants but we have never had a discussion about costumes. I am not sure where she got the idea that we weren't buying costumes, I guess she puts costumes in the "want" category rather then the "need". Should I tell her otherwise????

Nunns Park

This past Saturday we took the kids up to Nunns park in Provo Canyon. Paige wanted to see the river. Ever since we went to the family reunion she has had a fascination with water. When we got there we were amazed to see so many people. Not only were there a lot of people but there were people camping there. It was kind of ridiculous that people actually thought this was camping. You are like 200 feet from a major road. I told John that we should request the reunion be moved there for next year! We still had a fun time. We walked on the trail down to the lower park and sat by the water. Paige and Johnny were both terrified at the thought of failing in the water so we stayed a good distance away. They had so much fun they didn't want to leave. Johnny lost it when we got in the car because he wanted to see the river again. So it looks like we will be going back sometime.
