Coen takes his first steps

Tonight we were trying to get Coen to walk and he decided to cooperate with us. I have been trying to get him to take a few steps for the past month but he wanted nothing to do with it but tonight he finally did it.

Paige said this to me as she was getting ready for bed tonight. When she said this I automatically thought she was talking about the election. No she was just talking about her hair. I thought I had a very perceptive child on my hands no just a vain one.

Halloween

I know I am a day late on this. I was up way to late to post about it yesterday. Halloween was fun this year. The kids did the usual. Go around a few blocks and come home with a ton of candy. We got more trick or treater's this year then we have in years past. The kids went around the block with some neighbors first and then Annette and Devon came and Annette and I took all the kids around another block while Devon maned the fort. By the end of the night all the kids were tired and went to bed at a somewhat reasonable hour. Thanks Devon and Annette for coming and helping while John was gone and keeping me company!!!

One More Tooth Gone

Paige has had a loose tooth for awhile now, so the other day her dad pulled it out. I thought that she would cry because it hurt but she was a trooper. She was more concerned about the blood then the pain.

Vegas Trip

This past week the kids and I went back to my old stompin' grounds. It is always so strange to me to go back to the city I called home for the first 18 years of my life. So much has changed since I lived there 12 years ago. There have been times in the past when I would have been willing to move back there. But the last few times that I have visited I realized that I would not want to move back there. I love Las Vegas because it is my hometown but nothing more. I have many fond memories growing up there and I would not trade them for the world. But the city has changed just like most other places. There are more people, more crime and it's just dirty. I visited with my friend Angie while I was there and we talked about how our High School is now "ghetto". She still lives there and admitted that it is embarrassing to tell people where she went to school and has to tell them that it wasn't that way when she went there. I went to my old neighborhood and it is run down. It is just very sad to see this. I guess it happens to many of us. I am just glad that I have a good memory and can remember the good times I had. But as for me and my family we will not be moving to Vegas any time soon. I know there are many of you who are reading this and still live in Vegas and love it. I still to this day defend my home town to others who make disparaging remarks about it. We are all defensive of the place we grow up. I know there are many of you that would never live in Utah. Utah also has a polarizing affect on people. You either love it or hate it. I use to lean toward the not liking Utah but the longer I live here and the more I travel outside of Utah the more appreciative I am of it. But I do have to say the my most favorite place I have lived is in Northern California. We missed family when we lived there and were glad to come back to family. But if we could have afforded a home there we would have never left. I am glad that I had an opportunity to go on a mini vacation with the kids while they are off track. We had fun. Vegas is always a great place to visit!
