No Living Things for Christmas

A while back John told Paige that when we get a fence that we would get a dog. Well, he did not consult me on this deal and frankly I do not want a dog. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE animals. I grew up with cats my entire life and thought that I would want animals when I got a house of my own. But getting older has made me realize that an animal is like another child but no tax benefits!(Just kidding! I would still have kids whether or not I got a tax break. But I have to admit it is really nice). Animals take a lot of maintenance. You have to feed them, give them shelter when it is cold and get them vaccinated. And honestly with the crappy health insurance that I have now it about breaks the check book to get my own kids vaccinated let a lone a animal. Well to get to the point. Yesterday Paige came home with a letter to Santa. I tried to scan it but is was on that big lined paper that has odd dimensions so I was not able to post it. But anyway it said that she loved Christmas and could she please get a dog preferably a brown one and a black one with white spots. Not only is she thinking she is getting a dog in the future she thinks she is getting two and now she is asking Santa for one.YIKES!! I am going to sit Paige down in a few days and let her know that Santa doesn't bring "living" things to our house for Christmas. I hope this will hold her over on the dog issue. Wish me luck!

lol! I think Santa has that same rule in our house. The girls are saying they want a REAL cat! Not gonna happen. Good luck!

Hahaha! That is so funny!! I was just looking at dogs for sale tonight. I will say, it takes A LOT of work and even when everyone tells you "we'll take care of it," ultimately YOU (the mom) will be walking it in the dead of winter, scooping poop, cleaning the dog vomit/diarrhea when it's sick and paying through the nose for vaccinations. As an experience dog Mom, I tell my friends how much work it really takes. Don't ever cave in, unless you're fully committed...there is nothing worse than bringing home a puppy and then two months later selling it back. I've seen it happen in this neighborhood atleast 6 times among 3 families. It's heartbreaking for the kids and the animals. (Believe it or not, they actually do feel emotion.) Just for thoughts...
