Today we had our first "phone call" for Paige from a friend. I remember years ago when my Mother in Law was telling me that Neal had gotten a call in Kindergarten and she was amazed. At the time I didn't anything of it. Well, now I am the one that is amazed. Paige came home a few months ago with a little girl's phone number and she told me that she gave the little girl hers too. Nothing came of this exchange, so when Paige came home yesterday and told me that she had exchanged numbers with another girl I didn't worry. Sure enough when we got home from Costco there was a message from this little girl. I was amazed. Are most five year old years so brave to leave a message for another five year old little girl? I know Paige could never muster up the courage to leave a message, let alone call another little girl. You can guess Paige did not call this little girl back. Well, today this little girl called again while we were home and I gave the phone to Paige and they had a little discussion. It is quite cute. The end result was that they are going to play this Saturday. I can't believe the phone thing is already starting. Paige asked me today when she was going to get her own cell phone! I was like"in over 10 years, and that is a long time." WOW! I am going to have to monitor this development. I can't fight my five year old for phone time now. Can you imagine if she starts talking on the phone regularly now; what it will be like when she is a teenager. YIKES. I guess Mother like daughter. I was a phone talker, and at times I still am. I guess I need to monitor that too! Now I know somewhat of what my mother went through.
